Ikea has bought 33,600 hectares of forest in Romania

The EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) entered into force on 3 March 2013. Under the EUTR, EU operators are prohibited from placing illegally harvested timber and timber products on the EU market for the first time. Operators must also exercise due diligence to reduce the risk of illegal products being present in their supply chains. The EUTR also requires that traders who buy or sell timber and timber products already on the market maintain records relating to their suppliers and customers.
